Military Families
We welcome all military families to our school and have always worked closely with CTCRM in Lympstone.
There is a large friendly military housing base in Lympstone and the majority of families with young children living there attend our school.
We welcome military families at any time during their school journey and often have mid-year new starters. We fully understand that a house move and school move can be very stressful and upsetting for everyone in the family and we are here to help you, whether it be with local information, signposting to new groups and societies or supporting children in school by making new friends and settling in. There is a very friendly military family community within our school which we can help you to be a part of should you wish. We also understand that some families would rather keep this element of their lives personal and we fully respect that too. All we do ask is that you let us know of any circumstances changes so that we can support you and your child if need be.
Some children gain great comfort (when a parent is absent on deployment or even absent during the weeks) from completing our sharing books which they can add to at any point during the day.
We run specific groups and activities for military families and these will be advertised as and when they occur. We are always looking to develop our offer to military families, so do please let us know if you have any ideas you would like us to consider or if you are able to volunteer a few hours to support a military project.
As you will be aware, each military child who attends school brings some additional funding. As this is a low level, we accumulate the funds and use them mainly to provide TA support in each class and to part fund our Thrive practitioner who is there when needed. Some of the funding is used each year for a development project that will benefit all military families in the future.
